Entertainment

It's amazing what kinds of things will produce such time consuming entertainment for a 10 month old.

Take a look at what kept Emma busy this morning while mommy and daddy got ready for church --

*SIGH*

Note to our faithful reader:  Emma has successfully managed to pull our camera off it's resting place and onto the floor.  The lens is broke!  Hopefully we'll be able to fix it without having to pay an arm and a leg for it.  Therefore, not sure how many posts I'll be doing until then.

Smoothies

I have started preparing smoothies with the intention of getting two fruits and one vegetable serving every day.  The blender often throws Emma into a frenzy for which I normally end up holding her in my arms while drinking it.  As always, she wanted to stick it in her mouth and try it.  I thought -- "whatever, we'll see what she thinks?"  Well... she loves it!  This green, gross looking beverage seems to be the best thing she has ever had aside from her mama's milk :)

And just because I told my sister I would tell her what's in it, here it is:

Yummy smoothie
* 1 frozen banana
* 1 serving of fruit -- strawberries and peach are the only two variations I have tried
* 1 serving of spinach
* 1 cup of vanilla yogurt
* ~1 T. granola

10 months

Emma is 10 months old today!

Emma and Johnny Bear <3

Posing with JB is becoming harder and harder to capture.  This month, instead of chewing on him like she has in the recent past, she decided to hug and snuggle with him.

What has she been up to this past month, you ask?
* She points at things with her index finger.  I am not sure how or where she learned this, unless I do it without realizing it.
* She claps her hands.  So sweet!  I have somehow translated "Patty Cake" into Spanish and I sing it with her when she begins to clap:
Patty Cake, Patty Cake, Panadero
Preparame un pan lo mas rapido que puedas
Aplanalo, moldealo, y ponle una E
Y metelo al horno para Emma girl y mami
* Aunt Amber has introduced me to smoothies to help me get my fruits and vegetables for the day.  To my amazement, Emma cannot get enough of it!  She is always wanting to sip out of my cup when I am having one.
* She is just now starting to get into animal noises.  She'll say "hoo, hoo" when she sees her toy Doggie.
* I use to have her wear hair bows all.the.time.  She'd even wear them while she napped.  Now, each time I try to put a bow in her hair she immediately pulls it off and hands it back to me as if saying: "Mama, I think you forgot something."
* She is getting two more bottom teeth.
* She is no longer eating baby food.  She'll still eat it once in a while, but not often.  She would much rather eat what mommy and daddy are having than enjoying her own special food.  Hey, as long as she keeps this up, I don't see a reason to complain :) (I dread a picky eater)

And on to some more pictures of today...

Emma only gets her pacifier when she is in her crib, which has turned out to be a wonderful blessing!  Having said that, she has discovered where I hide it when she is not using it - under her changing table.  So if I loose sight of her for just one second, she'll go straight to her room, pull this little basket and find her paci.  And straight to her mouth it goes!  Today was no exception.

Cousin Levi loves Emma.  He came over today and played with her for a few hours in the morning.  His greatest compliment: "I love her round face."  Hmmm... They are good buddies.  We went to the park near our house and each time he would go down the slide Emma would giggle and giggle at him.

Five years

At the Tatooed Moose celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary while at the beach.

We love to watch Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy Fieri and have always wanted to go eat at one of the restaurants he visits.  This is how we decided to eat here.  Their french fries cooked in duck fat were wonderful!  :)

Beach vacation

We spent all of last week at the beach with the Morrises.  This was Emma's first time at the ocean.  She absolutely loved it!  If I had to measure all of the sand she ate, I would probably guess close to 1/4 cup.  This was a battle I decided to no longer fight after our first day there.

I will try to get the rest of our pictures from Memma and Poppa's camera sometime this week.  In the meantime, these will do.

Cousin McNeill enjoyed digging holes with Emma.

Our first two days out at the beach Emma mostly sat, dug holes and ate sand.  She eventually became comfortable and began crawling everywhere, even while in the water.

At the pool after being out at the beach.

Have I ever mentioned how much my baby girl loves the water?

In the morning...

Our morning routine is quite predictable.  Emma wakes, drinks her milk while daddy eats and has quiet time, then eats breakfast with mama (which normally consists of nanas).  Daddy finishes with breakfasts and heads off to get ready for the day.  Emma finishes her breakfast and wants to get down and explore.  She knows that soon will be play time with daddy.

But recently she has figured out how to squeeze some extra time with him.  When Byron is in the bathroom, she'll begin crawling his way until she can open the door and find him.  So cute!  I had to take pictures...

"Daaaaddy, I'm here!  Is it time to play already?"

"Emma girl, I'll be out in just a few more minutes."

New gadgets

Memma found these Hello Kitty sun glasses in her house the other day.  We tried them on Emma and we just can't get over how cute she looks in them.  Of course, she last all of two seconds using them before she takes them off.  Oh well... two seconds is enough to take a few shots of her in them.  (On a side note, for some reason, her mouth is always open when using them).

I was also finally able to get Emma's photo album together the other day.  It has pictures of those who love her -- Mommy and Daddy, Oma, Memma, Aunt Alison, Grandmother, Nana and Great Gram.  Still missing pictures of her Papa, her Morris aunts and uncles, and Morris cousins.

She loves this new little toy of hers.  It is perfect for bending, chewing, carrying around, but especially for looking at.
